Mòzǐ zhù 墨子注

(Commentary on the Mòzǐ) completed by Bì Yuán in 1784. It was the first major Qing study of the Mòzǐ and marks the beginning of the modern philological revival of Mohist studies. Bì’s work corrected numerous textual problems and attempted to clarify the relationship between the canons and explanations of the Mòjīng. Although later superseded by Sūn Yíràng’s Mòzǐ jiāngǔ, it established many of the questions that would dominate subsequent research on Mohist logic.
